Monte E. Evans II is co-owner and Director of Sports Management at Competitive Edge. Mr. Evans develops sport specific programs and clinics, partnerships, athletic events and marketing campaigns conducted by
Competitive Edge.

Mr. Evans, better known as Coach Monte is also a performance coach who helps athletes enhance their athletic ability to excel in various sports. He began mentoring and coaching student athletes in 2004 and has continued
to work as an advocate for youth sports. Likewise, Coach Monte has been involved with various sports since age six as an athlete himself. Coach Monte attended Michigan State University where he played for the Spartans Basketball team under hall of fame coach Tom Izzo.

Coach Monte is the head coach of the Dale City Lightning Track Club (DCTC). He co-founded DCTC in 2010, as a track and field running club for boys and girls ages 6 -18. DCTC’s goals are to improve youths’ leadership
skills, enhance their athletic ability, combat juvenile delinquency, and encourage greater participation in school sports programs. Under Coach Monte’s leadership, the team started with 11 athletes and has quickly grown to include both indoor, outdoor, and cross country seasons involving over 300 youth per year in Northern Virginia. Coach Monte has a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coaching Certification. He specifically coaches the sprints and has coached several Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USATF district, regional and state champions.

Coach Monte is originally from Detroit, Michigan and attended Cass Technical High School. Coach Monte has a BS in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and a MA in the Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University. He currently works full time as a Senior Grant Manager for the Department of Justice.
