Spring Training Isn’t Just for Professional Baseball Players!

Spring training isn’t just for minor league and professional baseball players but also for student athletes. While playing catch in the yard or a casual game with friends has its benefits, true spring training requires a bit more structure. As always, our goal is to provide you with a Competitive Edge, which is why we offer multiple spring training options for baseball and softball players.

Walk-In Batting Cages

If you are a year-round athlete, then you may not need much in terms of speed, strength or endurance training. However, you will need to practice your swing and batting form. You will also need to stretch and retain the muscles in your back and shoulders. Where many athletes fail is in hopping right back into the current baseball or softball season expecting to pick up where they left off last year. When it comes to hitting, it will take practice to achieve your previous batting average, which is why we provide year-round walk-in batting cages.

Professional Hitting and Field Instruction

IMG_7498LWhile batting cages provide athletes with the ability to practice, our professional hitting and field instructors take the time to fine-tune each athlete’s skills. We train athletes of all ages and abilities, from first timers to heavy hitters. We focus on hitting form, field strategies, catching, agility, hand-eye coordination and more.

Professional Pitching Instruction

If you are a pitcher or want to try out as a pitcher, then you must master an additional skill set. While you will have plenty of time to pitch during practices, our pitching instructors will give you the personalized attention you require and the time to practice new pitching techniques.

Strength, Speed and Agility Training

Long distance running isn’t required for baseball, but you must be able to run fast for short distances and change direction on a dime. On top of that, you must keep your eye on the ball and strategize whether it’s best to slide into base, try for one more base or return to base. This requires specialized strength, speed and agility. We run the drills and exercises to help you develop all of these at Competitive Edge.

Clinics and Team Training

We can train you solo, with your team or in a group in one of our age- and skill-appropriate baseball or softball clinics. Our turf-lined indoor facility contains three 55-foot cages with Iron Mike Automatic pitching machines, two 70-foot cages for pitching and catching, and three 35-foot practice cages. This provides our athletes with everything they need for pre-season training. Teams are welcome to rent our space anytime they want to take their training to the next level.

Baseball spring training provides athletes with the time to ramp up to full speed, build upon their individual athletic ability and train their bodies properly with the goal of minimizing injury. To learn more about our year-round or pre-season baseball and softball instruction reach out today!
