Basketball Training and Clinics
COMPETITIVE EDGE BASKETBALL training is focused on developing the all-around skills of our athletes. Our programs cater to the first-time player all the way up to the ball player that’s on a competitive AAU, high school or college team. We conduct training sessions and clinics that provide comprehensive instruction on the fundamentals of basketball, i.e., position skills, defensive techniques, strength and conditioning all of which help athletes succeed at any level. COMPETITIVE EDGE AAU BASKETBALL is for athletes with a goal to be the best and want to compete against the best. Edge Basketball provides organized and structured AAU club teams, for boy and girl basketball players looking for a “Competitive Edge.” Our goal is to train athletes on how to play the game, provide instruction that covers basketball fundamentals, techniques, teamwork, discipline, commitment, and a positive attitude. Competitive Edge provides a basketball environment that allows athletes to excel and increase their ability to compete at a high level while enjoying the game of basketball.
COMPETITION: Edge basketball teams’ schedule vary across the organization, but often involve combinations of league and/or tournament play at younger grade levels, to teams that travel to local and national exposure events dedicated to giving players opportunities for exposure to NCAA colleges and universities.
COMPETITIVE EDGE BASKETBALL MANAGEMENT provides the infrastructure for the Edge teams, while coaches and/or team managers control the practice and tournament schedules, fundraising, and skill development of their team. Competitive Edge Athletic Performance Center is “Home” to all our athletes, where they receive memberships during the season allowing them to train on an individual basis. Notably at Competitive Edge, teams and players can stay involved in training and leagues year- round to stay in shape and further develop their skills.
EDGE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE program focuses on improving an athlete’s football skills whether it’s by position, i.e. our QB College, Line-Man Camp, Wide Receiver training or by developing speed, strength, power, agility, explosiveness, and endurance. If you want to become a better football player, regardless of your position, you’ll need to develop a high level of strength and conditioning.

COMPETITIVE EDGE LACROSSE implements progressive training techniques that improve athletes’ movements and mechanics. To succeed at lacrosse and prevent injury on the field, it is important to have a solid, lacrosse conditioning program. Lacrosse is one of the most physically demanding sports, therefore we incorporate a balance of strength and endurance training, while also focusing on mobility and speed.
Our training is specific for lacrosse players looking to improve their shooting techniques, dodging, passing drills and applying their newly acquired strength and speed to the field. Athletes will focus on developing their quickness, agility, reaction time, and overall body control through specifically designed drills to enhance their athletic ability on the field.
COMPETITIVE EDGE SOCCER implements progressive training techniques that improve athletes’ movements and mechanics. Each session incorporates a comprehensive approach to training that develops Dribbling & Ball Handling, Passing and Receiving, and Attacking to Defending 1v1 which incorporates finishing and striking skills to create scoring opportunities off the dribble; most effective moves in front of the goal; when to use finesse versus power; and how to finish breakaways.
Our soccer strength and speed camps will:
- Improve your performance and reduce your risk of injury
- Improving leg strength is key to improving sprint speed and jump performance
- Core instability is a key factor for ACL injuries
- Introduse strengthening and stabilizing exercises
- Performing special upper body exercises can help reduce the risk of concussions
- Weak neck muscles are one risk factor for concussions in sports that involve impact
TRACK & FIELD
COMPETITIVE EDGE TRACK & FIELD program is based on conditioning, mobility and flexibility training, strength and plyometric training and specific event technique. The program consists of warm-up, accelerations/power development and speed workouts. We conduct individual and group training for various track events i.e., sprints (100m, 200m, 400m) distance (800m 1,500m, 3,000m), hurdles, high jump, shot put and discus.
Our program focuses on proper technique for using starting blocks, breathing, sprint mechanics (drive, acceleration, deceleration phases).
High School / College Strength Training
Our high school / college athlete track and field training program reinforces strength and power development which are qualities that optimize athletic performance and prevent injuries. Strength training is an integral component of track and field. Such training clearly improves the basic strength, power, speed and general fitness of athletes. It also aids in the prevention and rehabilitations of injuries when it is done properly. A philosophy of strength training for high school track and field athletes must be based on these fundamentals. In other words, the first goal of all training must be to improve the health and fitness of young athletes. The second goal should be to improve competitive performance.

VERTIMAX RESISTANCE / JUMP TRAINING
Competitive Edge uses Vertimax as primary component of our resistance and jump training. Resistance training is an integral and crucial part of any athlete’s training plan.
