Competitive Edge provides our student athletes with a training facility designed to improve athletic performance on all levels. This is why we offer speed and agility training in our spacious 1,300 square foot open turf area. Our open turf is available for scheduled training sessions, clinics and camps — all of which focus on improving speed, technique, strength, stamina, flexibility and stability. Our open turf drills can be set up to train for both sport-specific skills and overall performance.

Cross Training Is the Key to a Well-Balanced Athlete

The role cross-training plays in athletic success continues to expand and evolve. While once reserved for collegiate and professional athletes, we provide our young athletes with a competitive advantage with valuable cross-training solutions. This goes beyond the endurance training required to excel in their sport of choice, to training that is a proactive approach to both injury and athletics.

Some professional golfers play tennis. While the swing is entirely different, it practices hand-eye coordination and works a wider range of muscles in their backs and arms. Some football players do Pilates and resistance training in the swimming pool. Both improve balance and strengthen the smaller muscle groups required for increased agility. Many basketball players run with the goal of increasing on-the-court stamina. No matter the cross training, athletes who invest time working muscles groups not used in their preferred sport will help to offset the repetitive motion of their sport, and also reduce injury and accelerate recovery.

Speed and Agility Training Keeps Things Fun

Our open turf area can be set up in an endless variety of ways. Our goal is always to provide our athletes with gradually challenging exercises, but also to keep things fun. Variety is the spice of life, so the same old sport-specific drills can grow old. We set up drills using cones, ladders, tires and more. We keep our class sizes small and strategically fill our classes, taking age and ability into consideration. This ensures that we can provide each student with personalized attention, direct feedback and drills that will continue to expand upon their current skillsets. These classes also allow students who play different sports the opportunity to train with a wider variety of athletes. We find that our classes encourage healthy competition and are an excellent way to make new friends.
